TEMPLE OWLS (+13) VS KANSAS JAYHAWKS
So far this season my predictions have gone 1-2-2. I’m looking to turn things around today and I think that the Temple Owls is where that begins. In the first meeting between these two teams since 2010, I like the Owls to cover as 13-point underdogs.
This Temple basketball team is no stranger to playing good basketball teams. They faced Syracuse only a couple weeks ago at home and upset them 83-79. They were heavy underdogs in that game and it is no different today. They come into this game winners in four of their last five and in order to keep that going they will need to move the ball around effectively, getting the Jayhawks defense moving so they can find open looks. Kansas is 3rd in the nation keeping opponents too a .347 field goal percentage. If they can find the open shooter, I like them to keep pace with Kansas.
The Owls away scoring ranks 44th in the nation. Much of that scoring comes from 3-points (6.9 PG) and steals (8.7 PG) off the hands of Khalif Wyatt. In his senior year he is the leading scorer on this Temple squad and they will need his leadership in this game. He dusted Syracuse for 33 points, look for him to step his game up for this matchup too. In the first game of 2013 for both of these schools it should be electric in the arena. Kansas will win this game, but the Owls keep it close.
