WEST COAST CONFERENCE MATCHUP

BRIGHAM YOUNG COUGARS (-4) VS SAN FRANCISCO DONS

In for first meeting between these two programs this season I like BYU to cover 4-points on the road. Entering this matchup the Cougars have the advantage in almost every statistical category.
BYU enters this game one of the best all around teams in the country. They are 26th in the nation in scoring per game, averaging 79 points. While they are one of the best at spreading the floor and their offense, averaging 17.1 assists per game. Furthermore this team has been beastly on the boards averaging 41.7 per game (14 overall) which probably helps to make them the best defensive squad in the West Coast conference.
The Cougars are +11 in point differential for points scored versus points allowed this year. They have won 6 of 7 and are only getting started, winning their last 3 games by an average of 32 points. The key for them to win a 4th in a row will be shutting down Cole Dickerson. Only in his junior season he is quietly averaging a double-double for the Dons (15.5 PPG, 11.9 RPG). If this man isn’t on his game then San Francisco won’t get much done on this team. Look for BYU to pressure him all day and do a great job keeping him off the boards.
In the last 5 meetings BYU has outscored the Dons by an average of 10.8 points per game. While San Francisco enters the matchup with an 0-3 against the spread record in their last 3 as a dog. Look for BYU to improve on their 11-4 record and win their 4th consecutive against the Dons.
TRENDS
BYU
  • 2-1 against the spread versus San Francisco in their last 3 meetings

SAN FRANCISCO
  • 2-6 straight up in their last 8 games
  • 38-58 against the spread when playing at home against a team with a winning record since 1997
